Are virtual schools effective?

Since this is my last blog, I decided whether virtual schools are effective or not. My desicion is that it is both yes and no.
Yes because even though it is virtual school it still teaches you. Some kids prefer to go to virtual school because it gives them more oppertunities.
No because virtual schools don't give the student a lot of social interaction. Also, because virtual schools have lower test scores.
In the end, I am satisfied with my blog because, I got to learn something new.

Are virtual schools effective?

During my research I have found that virtual schools started in the 1990's. The 1990's is when computers started to get better, which would make it possible for virtual schools. Before computers virtual schools used postal services, radio, and television.
In the United States, there are 45 states that offer virtual schooling. In 1997, Florida was the first state to have a statewide Internet-based high school.
There are two types of virtual schooling. One type is synchronous. It is we're all students are present at the same time, which resembles a traditional classroom. The second type is asynchronous. It is were students access there learning on there own schedule.
Since, I have found the history of virtual schooling, I think it will help me better understand virtual schools.

Are virtual schools effective?

When people think about virtual schools, they think that it is all about technology but it's not. Virtual schools are about curriculum and instructions. In virtual schools you can join virtual classrooms whenever there is internet access.
Virtual schools also have teachers. A computer is not just teaching them. The student is teached by a cerified teacher. In the best virtual schools, the teacher works directly with both the student and the learning coach.
During my research I have a lot of things about virtual schools, but I can not decide whether virtual schools are effective. With more of my research I shall find out.

Are virtual schools effective?

To find out if virtual schools are effective, I decided to look at test scores from virtual schools. K12, a viritual school, has test scores that are 14 to 36 percent lower than text scores from traditional schools. The text scores for reading are 2 and 11 percent below state average.
The graduation rate is also lower. The K12 graduation rate is 49.1 percent. Traditional school graduation rate is 79.4 percent.
What is the cause for this?  Does this mean that virtual schools are not effective? With more of my research I will find out.

Are virtual schools effective?

Are virtual schools effective? Is the question that I am asking but before I answer it, I would like to give you the definition of a virtual school. A virtual school is when a student learns through Internet technology. It is not like homeschooling. Also, even though it is on the Internet, it still has teachers.
The cons of virtual schools is that it is harder to do a virtual school with more than one student. Virtual school takes longer than homeschool. The student will spend a lot of time on the computer, which is not good. Also, the student will not have as much social interaction as those who don't go to virtual schools.
The pros of virtual schooling is that you can set your own schedule. In virtual schooling you only need four hours. The cost of virtual schooling is free.
In the end, I am still decided whether virtual schools are effective. I hope that with more of my research, I can find out.
